Most Promising Young Person in Manchester (Rising Star Award)

This award recognises someone who is excelling in their chosen career, is making a valuable contribution to their employer or the economy and is achieving above and beyond expectations at a young age.

The judges are looking for someone who has demonstrated exemplary performance and who stands out from their peers. This can be demonstrated through their technical, commercial or practical abilities, client/customer care or focus, recognition of their work for clients, customers or their employer and engaging and responding to demands faced by their clients or customers and the profession/sector they work in.

The nominee needs to be between 18 and 26 years of age for this award, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region to be considered for this award.

Legal Professional of the Year

This award recognises a truly exceptional individual’s contribution to the legal profession in the last 12 months. Nominees can be paralegals, trainee solicitors, legal executives or qualified solicitors.

The judges are looking for someone who has demonstrated exemplary performance in their field of expertise, standing out from their peers. This can be demonstrated through their technical legal ability, client care/focus, pro bono work, recognition of their work on major cases, projects or investigations and engaging and responding to demands faced by clients and the legal profession.

To be eligible for this award the nominee must be aged between 18 and 40, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region.

Entrepreneur of the Year

This award recognises an individual who has identified and capitalised on an opportunity to develop their own or start a new business or who has created an innovative idea to improve an existing process or service.  

The judges are looking for an individual who has achieved the above through hard work, dedication and determination. The winner of this award is likely to be someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the Manchester region within the last 12 months. This can be demonstrated through technical, commercial or practical abilities, client/customer care and/or focus and engaging and responding to demands faced by their clients/customers and their profession/sector.  

The nominee needs to be between the ages of 18 and 40, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region to be considered for this award.  

Talent & Recruiter of the Year

This award recognises an individual who has exceeded their firm’s expectations/targets consistently through hard work and dedication.  Entrants are invited from across the recruitment, talent and HR sector.  

The individual nominated will have to demonstrate to the judges how they are the best young HR/talent or recruitment professional within the Manchester region.  This can be demonstrated through their technical, commercial and/or practical abilities, client care and/or focus, recognition of their work on major projects and engaging and responding to demands faced by clients and their profession/sector.  

The nominee needs to be between the ages of 18 and 40, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region to be considered for this award.  

Finance Professional of the Year

This award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the financial services industry. Nominations are welcome from finance professionals working in practice or industry and from any background.  

The individual nominated will have to demonstrate to the judges how they are the best finance professional within the Manchester region. This can be demonstrated through their technical, commercial and/or practical ability, client care/focus, recognition of their work on major deals or projects and engaging and responding to demands faced by their clients and their profession/sector.  

The nominee needs to be between the ages of 18 and 40, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region to be considered for this award.  

Marketing/PR Professional of the Year

This award recognises an individual who has positively enhanced the image and reputation of a company through ideas and use of technology. Entrants are invited from across the marketing and PR sector.  

The individual nominated will have to demonstrate to the judges how they are the best young marketing or PR professional within the Manchester region. This can be demonstrated through their technical, commercial or practical abilities, client care and/or focus, recognition of their work on major marketing and PR projects and engaging and responding to demands faced by their clients and their profession/sector.

The nominee needs to be between the ages of 18 and 40, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region to be considered for this award.  

Digital, Media or Creative Professional of the Year

This award recognises an individual who is technically and commercially the best digital, media or creative professional. Entrants are invited from across the digital, media and creative sectors.  

The individual nominated will have to demonstrate to the judges how they are the best young digital, media or creative professional within the Manchester region. This can be demonstrated through their technical, commercial or practical abilities, client care and/or focus, recognition of their work on major digital, media and/or creative projects and engaging and responding to demands faced by their clients and their profession/sector.  

The nominee needs to be between the ages of 18 and 40, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region to be considered for this award.  

Property Professional of the Year

This award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the property industry.  Entries are welcomed from property professionals in practice or industry and with any background. 

The individual nominated will have to demonstrate to the judges how they are the best young property professional within the Manchester region. This can be demonstrated through their technical, commercial or practical abilities, client care and/or focus, recognition of their work on major property deals or projects and engaging and responding to demands faced by their clients and their profession/sector.  

The nominee needs to be between the ages of 18 and 40, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region to be considered for this award. 

Hospitality Professional of the Year

This award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to Manchester’s thriving hospitality industry and exceeded expectations both in terms of targets and customer service in the last 12 months. Entries are welcomed from individuals working across the hospitality sector and with any background.  

The individual nominated will have to demonstrate how they are the best young hospitality professional within the Manchester region. This can be demonstrated through their technical, commercial or practical abilities, client care and/or focus, recognition of their work on major projects/programs and engaging and responding to demands faced by their clients and their profession/sector.  

The nominee needs to be between the ages of 18 and 40, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region to be considered for this award.  

New Business of the Year

This award recognises a new business that has made an outstanding contribution to the Manchester region. Entries are welcomed from businesses setup and operating in the Manchester area in the last 2 years.  

The judges are looking for new businesses that have made an outstanding contribution to the Manchester region and/or to their industry/sector. This can be demonstrated through technical, commercial or practical abilities, client/customer care and/or focus and engaging and responding to demands faced by their clients/customers and/or their profession/sector.  

The individual(s) who has/have setup the new business must be aged 40 or under and UK resident(s) to be eligible for this award.  

Team of the Year

This award recognises a team who over the past 12 months have raised their organisation’s profile, had a positive impact on their community or made an outstanding contribution to their industry/sector. Entries are welcomed from teams working in the Manchester area and from any background.  

The judges are looking for teams that can demonstrate the above qualities. This can be demonstrated through technical, commercial or practical know-how, client/customer care and/or focus, work on major deals, projects or programs etc. and engaging and responding to demands faced by their customers/clients and their profession/sector.  

To be eligible for this award, each team member must be aged 40 or under, a UK resident and working in the Manchester region.  

Charity Project/Program of the Year

This award recognises a business, individual or team who in the past 12 months have introduced a project or program in the Manchester region which demonstrates their commitment to the charity sector. Entries are welcomed from businesses, individuals or teams working in the Greater Manchester area and from the public, private and charitable sectors. 

The judges are looking for a charity project/program that has had a positive charitable impact.  This can be demonstrated by explaining what motivated you to introduce this project and what impact, results and benefits were achieved/derived.  

Any individuals entering this award must be aged 40 or under and a UK resident.  Any businesses or teams entering this award must ensure that each individual involved in the charity project/program must be aged 40 or under and a UK resident.  

Lifetime Achievement Award

On the evening of the MYTA’s on Thursday 23rd November 2017, the JCI Manchester board will announce the recipient of this award. The winner of this award will be someone who has made an unrivalled impact and lasting contribution to the Manchester business community.

  • Explain the key reasons for the nomination in this category. To include as appropriate how the individual, business, team or charity project has gone above and beyond expectation and/or made an outstanding contribution to the Manchester region – maximum 300 words
  • Describe where appropriate the individual’s, business’, team’s or project’s performance metrics and achievements – maximum 250 words
  • Where appropriate and available, evidence of client/customer testimonies/feedback and previous awards won – maximum 350 words
